Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2012 announced
At the Dynamics NAV partner conference Directions EMEA held in Berlin in May, Microsoft announced the release of Microsoft Dynamics ‘7.0’ (2012) to be released in September/October 2012. So far a detailed and public “What’s new” document has not been released.
The classic client (as known from before NAV 2009) will be history. And so will the Form Object. Instead you will have to use the RoleTailored environment with its Page object. It also means a goodbye to the “native” database. With the next release then SQL Server will be the only database option. On top of this a lot of different improvements have been announced to the Page Designer and Report Designer (where the classic reports are also expected to be history). But the biggest technical news was announced at Directions US in October. With NAV 7.0 it will be possible to access Navision with nothing more than Internet Explorer 9 on their desktop.
On the application side NAV 7.0 there will also be improvements to Warehouse & Distribution, Jobs and Project Management, Resource Management and Business Intelligence.
