.... Microsoft Dynamics NAV is officially compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

So, this means exactly that Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 SP3 is compatible with SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008. Besides the fact that I always recommend to run the latest product update (expecially when you want to start using a brand new SQL Server version), I have the feeling that no update is required for the compatibility (as I can read in the announcement), except for customers who run Business Notification and/or Commerce Gateway).

So, what about NAV2009? Still the same statement: NAV 2009 will support both SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 when it comes out, which (last thing I heared) would be on December 1st 2008.

Issues:

Business Notification will not be able to support Microsoft SQL Server 2008 before the "SQL Server 2005 Notification Services Components Package" has been released. Currently this in RC1 state. Business Notification is dependent on this component in SQL Server, and this was not included in SQL Server 2008 RTM.

Please ready more about the availability of "SQL Server 2005 Notification Services Components Package" here: When "SQL Server 2005 Notification Services Components Package" has been Released to Web, we of course need to verify that Business Notification works with SQL Server 2008 included the "SQL Server 2005 Notification Services Components Package" before we can claim support for Business Notification on SQL Server 2008.
