The Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering

APG will now monitor and ensure Pakistan’s compliance of UN sanctions against terrorists as Islamabad is a member of the international body, officials said. However, Indian officials termed it a complete sham since it lacked the necessary details like the bank accounts frozen, action against individuals and the banned organisations and so on. The Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) is an autonomous and collaborative international organisation consisting of 41 members and a number of international and regional observers.Pakistan had prepared a report listing the steps taken by it to ban funds flow of 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s Jammat ud Dawa among the banned terrorists organisations.Despite China throwing its weight behind Pakistan to counter India’s move to put the latter under scanner of the international Wholesale frozen green beans Suppliers body, Financial Action Taskforce (FATF), the Narendra Modi government has successfully managed to put Pakistan in the list of nations under scanner of the Asia Pacific Group (APG) on money laundering to enforce UN sanctions against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and LeT founder Hafiz Saeed.India was also successful in convincing allies like the US to derail China’s attempt to save Pakistan from coming under the scanner afresh. At the Financial Action Taskforce meet, held in Brisbane last week, New Delhi raised strong objections to the fact that Islamabad’s compliance reports were completely insufficient and lacked commitment towards actually cracking down on LeT’s assets and it fund-raising efforts, official said. Pakistan had managed to get off the APG list of countries under its scanner earlier submitting various compliance reports on its action taken like freezing assets of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba and its affiliates
